Journal Summary
Sustainable rural tourism must be supported by local residents to achieve many benefits such as economic, social and environmental components of sustainability. In this journal, local resident perception towards rural tourism creates many impact for greater tourism development. Local resident attitudes and supports toward rural tourism has been identified and determined by doing research in the rural areas. Results indicate that there are highly significant positive impacts by the local residents to achieve greater rural tourism competitive advantages.

Social Cognitive Theory 1977 by Albert Bandura
According to Bandura (1977), social cognitive theory is a view of an individual’s cognitive judgment of his or her capability to accomplish a task successfully. The theory suggests that it takes into consideration a person's past encounters, which figure into whether a small or big effect of change or an activity will happen. These past encounters which impacts demand and hopes all of which shape whether an individual will lock into a particular behaviour and the reasons why an individual locks into that behaviour. The tourists that come into the rural destination plays an important roles to make sure a sustainable rural tourism can be achieved.
